A word of advice to Agynnes Deyn – “Never-ever-never attempt spinning records publicly again – You Suck!!! Stick to modeling – at least you have that one pose and blank stare down pat.” I believe the only people that appreciated her spinning were the string of 21 year old dorky pseudo-hipsters that were salivating to catch even the tiniest glimpse of Agynnes and Richie Rich in the booth (I personally love Richie but for some reason that evening I noticed how much he looked like a caricature of Agynnes). The music was so terrible we couldn’t stand it for more than 10 minutes.
Unfortunately I guess we were there long enough for the good folks over at FashionIndie to snap a shot of the back of my head and post it on their site the following morning. I only wish they could have seen the shocked look on my face.
That brings us to the 4th of July. Well every year stylist and fashion guru Patricia Field holds her big “4th of July BBQ.” For many years this used to take place in a secret location in Central Park but this year she opened her home up for the festivities due to the rain and all. As many of you may recall, I worked for Patricia Field many years ago and recently she hosted the launch of the Mal Sirrah collection in her magnificent downtown home.
Pat has one of those rare homes (not an apartment) in the city that as soon as you make it past the threshold you immediately realize you have just entered someone’s wildest fantasy. Personally whenever Pat holds a soiree behind those beautiful rustic gates leading into Le Maison de Fields it immediately becomes a family / class reunion. Patricia Field will forever be the mother / head mistress of an ever growing group of New York City’s most dysfunctional and creative les enfants terribles. (Just in case you ever receive an invite, a word of advice to the cautious: Steer clear of the baked goods - high point - if you know what I mean...)
Check out Pat’s home in this video from my debut show
